McAfee Site Advisor extension - Valuable addition to Firefox
I would recommend McAfee Site Advisor as an addition to Firefox, it integrates with Google search results telling you if a link is deemed safe or has been reported as fraudulent, It gives 3 indicators Green for safe, yellow for use caution and Red for “Don’t Do It, your asking for trouble!!”
Also gives a white ? indicator which means Site Advisor has not checked the link nut you can then submit the link to be checked. Not sure how fast the site check them is but I think its a must for Firefox/Google users.
Rootkit horror!
A customer of islandnet.com recently got a new laptop and was sick of his old desktop as it was riddled with viruses and spyware, he gave me the desktop and for 3 days I have been running checks for spyware and there was one directory in the C: drive that I could not delete, I knew it had to be something malitious but AVG Antispyware, Hijackthis, Spybot, Adaware and ZeroSpyware did not find it.
I ran Rootkit Revealer and it gave me reams of registry entries that indicated a Rootkit, its software that hides other software from the windows operating system and spyware removal programs. Made famous actually by a court case with Sony who use one to mask certain legitimate music related software installed from artists CD’s, Symantec also owned up to using a rootkit and made available software to disable it.
This rootkit concealed the content of this folder and only Sunbelt’s CounterSpy found the rootkit and disabled it, after it had been disabled then AVG and AntiVir virus programs found over 20 Trojan/Backdoor files in the folder and nobbled them.
In going to continue running other spyware programs on this box for the next week and see what else I find. Im 99% sure now that its a clean system

Mac - Cable connection drops… help.
I’m dealing with an ongoing issue at the moment and its bugging me like crazy, customer has a Mac G4 and he had it permanently located in one place, every so often the high speed connection just drops and going into the Network settings and renewing the DHCP lease gets it back and the high speed modem logs show that its a power saving issue or thats what I am told with the Mac but I can see that to be the case.
We had another customer with the same issue and our high speed provider upped the account to a standard highspeed connection on cable from the lite connection and then dropped it back causing the modem to cycle and the customer has not had the problem again.
I have requested Shaw do it with this customer and then its “wait and see” if it happens again.
Scam email
As you know, or maybe not, I work for Islandnet.com. Had an interesting email circulating today, its a scam and went out to our customers, we blocked the IP’s of the sender and did the usual protocol, here is the email:

Regarding our new security regulations, as a part of our yearly maintenance we have provided a security guard script in the attachment.
So, to secure your websites, please use the attached file and (for UNIX/Linux Based servers) upload the file “safeguard.php” in: “./public_html” or (for Windows Based servers) in: “./wwwroot” in your site.
If you do not know how to use it, you can use the following instruction:
For Unix/Linux or Windows based websites that use PHP/CGI/PERL/ASP:
1) Download the attachment named “safeguard.php”
2) Login to your site Control panel.
3) Open “File Manager” window.
4) Go through “Public_html” or “htdocs” (for UNIX/Linux Based servers), but for Windows Based server, please Go through “wwwroot” directory.
5) Choose “Upload Files”
6) Upload the file “safeguard.php”
7) Check its URL too “http://www.yoursite.com/safeguard.php”, if it is ok

We would never send anything of this type out and most of our customers know it, the php script was a compiled binary but we will dissect it, see what it does and try and see the risks.

Openly renouncing Jesus Christ on you Tube sounds crazy…
- Mainly teens
Teenage years are rebellious for most, your trying to carve an identity that is unique and exciting, allot of teens don’t want to be their parents when they are older, what percentage of this group renouncing God is from a Christian family and how better in a teens eyes to separate your identity from your parents then to fundamentally go against everything they hold dear.
- How many of these teens/people liked History?
Kind of an odd one but if schooling was not easy for allot of these kids then history was probably not a hot topic and how can they identify with a story that happened so long ago in a foreign country to a man which they see no common association, it just seems like stories called Gospels put in a book, there is no historical proof? Well its completely true, if you don’t believe the concept of Jesus being the son of God you can still believe he was a real person who lived and died on a cross, history backs this up.
- Its easier to say ‘i don’t believe’ then to understand The Gospels and learn that maybe there is something to it. Taking time and putting in effort into something like studying the Bible is not cool, why do that when I can hang out with friends.
Id be interested to know how many people renouncing God openly on YouTube believe in:
- Ghosts
The evidence for the existence of God is far greater than that of Ghosts but ghosts are cooler so you believe they exist… maybe.
- Space is a vacuum
You have never been there, why believe it ? Someone told you.
It seems people form beliefs too quickly, before you do something that you consider cool and rebellious, consider that after you die the energy that you are become something else, be it a ghost or something else, if you think this to be possible is it not possible that you could suffer for doing something that seemed exciting at the time.
Consider sex, there can be consequences of HIV, pregnancy, std’s so you are cautious, be cautious of doing this too.
It could be your future your destroying…
Scientists studying bacteria and single cell organisms have begun to believe is a designer, there are some organisms that effectively propel themselves with a tail driven by a motorized propeller which cannot be explained with evolutionary science. I have a DVD extract I will post.

Malawi
1020 women in 34 rural communities are provided with textbooks, exercise books, pencils for classroom training and literacy skills.

A young women’s hostel accommodates 50 women, providing security for those unable to live at home.
Tanzania
A number of different projects offer women opportunity and education:
· A literacy program will teach 300 women to read.
· Prior to literacy classes, 200 pairs of glasses will be provided to women with vision problems.
· Agricultural training that includes irrigation, vegetable gardens, terrace farming and basic tool use will be provided to 400 women.
· 500 women will be provided with basic business training skill including literacy and math
· HIV/AIDS education will reach 1,000 women

It sickens me, and we need to step up and do something about this.

The second video is a live air of Fox News talking about this and the news reporting going off on the co-founder of the organization.
