smart - smart news - smart forfour BRABUS

without comments

RT Comments: Smart have another car which will probably hit Canada soon, check out the link above. I did hear a story about a truck driver whilse turning onto the highway thought he went over a bump, he was being frantically waved at by passing cars for about 5 miles until a cop pulled him over for havinf a Smart Car wedged under his front bumper, could be urban legend…

Smart forfour BRABUS:

- turning up the heat in the hot hatch segment -

What does the company that thought the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren wasn’t quite up to speed like to do in its spare time?

It applies the blowtorch to another DaimlerChrysler product, the smart forfour, with equally impressive results.

BRABUS, the high-end tuning company, debuted its version of what was already one of the world’s most fascinating cars – the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren – at the 2005 Geneva Motor Show. At the same show the smart forfour BRABUS was premiered.

Now, the smart forfour is likely to come to Australia if there is sufficient customer demand.

The forfour BRABUS is a new four-seater from smart that conveys pure power and luxury following the motto “spice up your life”.

130 kW and a kerb weight of 1,090 kilograms result in a weight/power ratio of 8.4 kg per kW or just under 6.2 kg per bhp - figures that would do justice to many sports cars. A maximum speed of 221 km/h, acceleration from 0-100 km/h in 6.9 seconds and even more driving pleasure mark the smart forfour BRABUS as a premium vehicle for connoisseurs and enthusiasts – without neglecting the virtues of functionality, innovation and safety that characterise all models.

The smart forfour BRABUS is sure to get everyone’s pulse racing with the driving feel of a powerful sports car – and a level of luxury that is extremely unusual in this segment.

Unobtrusive modifications to the exterior and the interior underline the high performance character of the smart forfour BRABUS. In addition to 17 inch alloy wheels and a lowered suspension these include a larger front spoiler, a chrome-plated double-pipe exhaust, a rear diffuser and stylish side skirts.

Two diamond mesh inserts in the radiator grille are also exclusive to the smart forfour BRABUS. This model also features a roof spoiler that reduces lift on the rear axle by 50 kilograms at top speed and thus has a further stabilising effect.

BRABUS and smart are proud of the newest addition to the family and the high-end experience offered by the four-seater smart forfour. The smart forfour BRABUS has the same sassy, young design that characterises all smart forfour models and the same practical advantages such as the sliding rear seats – but it offers performance, luxury and especially driving pleasure that are quite outstanding for its class.

Netcraft: Wave of Phishing Attacks Hit Regional Banks, Credit Unions

without comments

Fraudsters are aggressively attacking smaller financial institutions, casting a wider and deeper net as they expand their target list beyond the largest banks and online retailers. Within a 24-hour period early this week, the Netcraft Toolbar community reported attacks on six different regional US banks or credit unions, none of which had previously been targeted by phishing scams. This flurry was followed by attacks on several more fresh targets, including banks whose operations are limited to a single U.S. state.

The message to the financial community is clear: there is no security by obscurity when it comes to phishing. Institutions that have fancied themselves too small or too local to be a useful target for phishers may soon find themselves attacked. In recent weeks convincing spoofs have emerged mimicking the web sites of financial institutions with modest assets and customer counts. Many of these spoof sites operate from servers in Korea, Taiwan, China and the Far East, as well as U.S. hosts.

By spreading their attacks to a larger number of targets, fraudsters are increasing their chances of success. In some cases, smaller targets offer distinct advantages when it comes to launching phishing attacks. Credit unions are usually affiliated with a particular company, university or government agency, which allows fraudsters to target a defined set of e-mail addresses that are likely shared by all members. This can offer the fraudster the opportunity of achieving near blanket coverage amongst the institutions’ customers, while decreasing the time required to send the mails, and thereby increasing the effectiveness of the attack.

Smaller financial institutions who have not yet implemented a plan for dealing with phishing attacks will need to act with some urgency, as they can reasonably expect to be targetted.
