Tall Ships Victoria
June 23-26, 2005
Amesterdam Tall Ships

Take part in the seafaring life in Victoria, BC this summer. The Victoria Tall Ships Festival is a highlight in a summer of seaside celebrations.

Up to 30 traditionally rigged sailing ships moor in Victoria’s Inner Harbour during The Tall Ships Festival. This family event includes ship tours and demonstrations of boat-building, maritime rescue techniques, and marine skills. Other maritime entertainment includes: a pirate school for children; stage shows; traditional dancing; bands and choirs; native art and carving

Victoria is the first port of call in the Tall Ships Challenge 2005. As the ships sail from port to port, they engage in races to hone the skills of their usually young cadet crews. The visit of the Tall Ships to Victoria is part of the 2005 Tall Ships Challenge in the Pacific. Organized by the American Sail Training Association (ASTA), the Tall Ships Challenge race series is a world-class event fostering youth education, sail training and leadership development across international borders.

Festival Only Tickets are available for June 23, 24, 25 & 26, 2005. These tickets will be available for purchase at the Entrance gates. Festival Only Tickets are $5.00 and are good for access to the Festival site only for the date stated on your ticket.

Vancouver Island British Columbia

without comments

What I call my home…. I came here to find my Eternal Summertime.

Vancouver Island is located to the West of Vancouver British Columbia. A good portion of the Island is below the 49th paralell (American Border). Vancouver Island is over 500 kilometers long (300 miles). It takes about 6.5 hours to drive from Victoriia BC on the south end of the Island to Port Hardy on the north end of the Island. There are small towns and cities along the way so you will never be far from the services you need. Although Vancouver Island is well inhabited, there are many places where you will find wilderness and wild life is abundant throughout the Island. There are eight tourism regions on the island and they are shown on the Vancouver Island page.

Travel to and from Vancouver Island is fast, convenient and relaxing. Air service includes scheduled flights by major airlines to Victoria International airport, the Nanaimo airport and the Comox airport. There are also harbour to harbour helicopter and float plane services. Smaller airlines travel throughout the island and there are chartered flights to various Island locations. Ferry service is available from several mainland British Columbia and Washington points as well as between locations on Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands. The Ferries travel through some of the finest scenery imaginable.

Vancouver Island has a population of over 750,000 and stretches southeast to northwest along the western coast of British Columbia. The rugged west coast is cut deeply by fjords (inlets) bordered by mountains. Many of the communities are located along the shores of protected bays and inlets. The eastern shoreline is much less rugged but rich with forests, farmland, fishing streams, villages and a few cities.
