Canada411

I hate it when someone says to me “give me the 411″, I want to smack them and say “Dont you mean ‘give me the information’?”

Still its a useful place to go to get info, tried looking up some family info and found most of it.

I also dont like those people who do the quotation marks in the air, just want to play peanuts/uncle and bend the fingers backward.

Maybe I should just relax a bit. :)

SpywareBlaster

Well, what can I say, they certainly do know how to write software that works. They maintain a list of knows offending spyware sites and this appy basically downloads that list and puts it in the block URL list in windows. Thats a basic overview of it. Oh, it is free but please donate a little to keep it going.

One of the first applications I install on a system.

Ive been using a toolbar, StumbleUpon recently, its pretty awesome and a good way to up traffic to a website. The whole point of of it is you hit the stumbleupon site and it takes you to a site that other stumblers have visited and rated, if you do to a site that you think should be included in the StumbleUpon catalogue (your own site for example) you can then give it a thumbs up or down and review the page.

I did it with ES and had a few more visitors Stumbling onto my site.

Oh, watch your wording when you add stuff as I said something about a site and it was mis-understood by the web owner and it got very sticky, he got offended, I got offended. Like 2 cats, our backs were up ready for combat. Water under the Trolls habitat as they say.

ttfn.

Im an avid Firefox user, its better than most other browsers I have used and I love the fact that the extensions are east to install and use. One that really does it for me is AdBlock, http://adblock.mozdev.org/, It allows you to block picture ads, you can do wildcard URL blocks, eg *pagead2* and even those evil text based, iFrame embedded ads!

Go AdBlock! :D

Well, I am back to work for a few days, its a Thursday, probably a fair to middlin’ kinda day. I have been setting up an old laptop for my mother-in-law so she may use dial up but its been nothing but hassles I can tell you. I had a real strange error retrieving email, she has 2 email in her POP box and it would download one then part of the second and then would report the remote host timed out but it was immediate.

I ended up deleting the mail account and re creating it a few times and finally it was all okay. Something odd going on there so I will have to treat that one with kid gloves. Ive been logged on the phone’s for 8 minutes now and nothings happening, I do think that someone has to be in the office to turn on the switchboard and as yet no one is there, makes for a quieter morning.

Snow has almost gone, almost a week it was out there, I like the first day or so then it just gets slushy and annoying!
