Telus block port 25 for all non-Telus email accounts, I don’t think they realize the amount of hassle they cause users that use a ISP for email other than Telus but use their High Speed ADSL service. Shaw doesn’t block them. Its such a pain. If you have an email account that is non-Telus (not including any web-based, hotmail/yahoo etc) then contact your email ISP and ask them if they have other email ports setup. Islandnet.com uses port 2525 as well as port 25.

I’m suffering at the hands of a Toshiba Portege 3020 CT laptop, having real grief with a CD ROM drive attaching via a PCMCIA card, just wont work. I want to get Cardsoft services 2.1 and with that and PICC.EXE and PICD.EXE I think I can get it working under DOS and hope that in turn will make it work in Win98SE.

Anyone having the same problem?

IncrediMail - Email has Finally Evolved

Email evolved!!! What the hell do they mean, Incredimail is such a resource hogger, bandwidth clogger and generally over-the-top.

Email should be Text only and attachments. Anyone who works for an ISP that provides dial-up would probably agree with me that Incredimail is annoying, My wife uses it and I would not go near it if she didnt use it, I beg, I plead but will she listen. Will you my love?

Probably not.

Stick with Thunderbird or prehaps FoxMail, a new Japanese client recently translated to english (Still that a bit too cutesie for me)

I an annoyed that anyone who is a Microsoft partner ties thier software into using some part of Microsofts Internet Explorer. Incredimail requires IE, Grisoft’s new AVG Free requires IE. Is it a pre-req that you force anyone who wants to use your software to have IE installed?

IE-Eradicator rocks, get rid of IE as much as possible. Still Explorer.exe in windows is just IE again, type an URL in and watch it go to the internet and turn into IE, ARGH!!

Canada411

I hate it when someone says to me “give me the 411″, I want to smack them and say “Dont you mean ‘give me the information’?”

Still its a useful place to go to get info, tried looking up some family info and found most of it.

I also dont like those people who do the quotation marks in the air, just want to play peanuts/uncle and bend the fingers backward.

Maybe I should just relax a bit. :)

SpywareBlaster

Well, what can I say, they certainly do know how to write software that works. They maintain a list of knows offending spyware sites and this appy basically downloads that list and puts it in the block URL list in windows. Thats a basic overview of it. Oh, it is free but please donate a little to keep it going.

One of the first applications I install on a system.

Ive been using a toolbar, StumbleUpon recently, its pretty awesome and a good way to up traffic to a website. The whole point of of it is you hit the stumbleupon site and it takes you to a site that other stumblers have visited and rated, if you do to a site that you think should be included in the StumbleUpon catalogue (your own site for example) you can then give it a thumbs up or down and review the page.

I did it with ES and had a few more visitors Stumbling onto my site.

Oh, watch your wording when you add stuff as I said something about a site and it was mis-understood by the web owner and it got very sticky, he got offended, I got offended. Like 2 cats, our backs were up ready for combat. Water under the Trolls habitat as they say.

ttfn.
